Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Masticating Juicer Review

Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Single-Gear Commercial Masticating Juicer

OmegaAfter spending 20 years as the President of Acme Juicer Manufacturing Company, Omega founder Robert Leo decided to take his juicing knowledge and launch his own brand. Omega Products was thus born in 1985, and has since become a major player in the masticating juicer niche. They offer centrifugal and pulp ejection styles as well, but have become most known for the line which now includes a recent newcomer: the vertical masticating juicer.  If you’re still stuck on what is the best juicer type, hit the link for an explanation.

The J8005 has a two-stage masticating system which involves crushing up the food first with a screw auger before passing it through a screen to remove the juice.  This allows for a slightly higher pulp content in the juice which may add some nutritional content versus a fast centrifugal juicer.  The slower-speed induction motor process enables the juicing of difficult fibrous foods like wheatgrass and greens.

Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Features:

  • Commercial-quality masticating juicer
  • Low-speed of 80 RPMs – best for leafy greens juice extraction
  •  1/3 Horsepower single-phase induction motor
  • Two-stage extraction system with no heat build up or oxygenation
  • Can be used as a grinder, food processor, pasta machine, etc. in addition to juicing
  • 14.5 x 6.5 x 15.5 measurements
  •  10 year warranty

Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Juicer Review

Omega J8005 Nutrition CenterMasticating juicers often are seen as the “next” juicer you own if you’re serious about juicing. For most people, a centrifugal juicer like a Jack Lalanne or a Breville is their first. Then they do one of two things: they either a) stop juicing, or, b) look to upgrade their machine. Sticking with a centrifugal alone is fine for most fruits and general veg, but when you move into greens and eventually wheatgrass you’re going to need something more.

If you’re looking to make that upgrade, chances are you’ve already taken a peek at the Omega J8005. And for good reason-this is a quality juicer with a tremendous amount of great reviews online. As a matter of fact, we even found it hard to find some negatives. In most instances, the negative comments we could find seemed to users that would have been happy with a centrifugal juicer and left it at that.

With all the glowing reviews we waded through, the users seemed to be in agreement on several key points. One: that the Omega J8005 is much quieter than any juicer they’ve ever used. This is usually the case with the auger-type juicer as the motor turns at such a slower speed and makes less of a racket.

Two: the cleanup is extremely easy, despite what you might have read regarding dual stage juicers. The Omega J8005 comes with 2 plastic bins for the juice and pulp and there are no sharp parts. There’s no fine mesh to clean, either, but rather just the pulp screen from below the main assembly. In short, there are a total of 5 parts that need washing and the whole teardown and clean takes less than 3 minutes.  And like in high-end masticating juicers, the J8005 does include a reverse button should for some reason something gets stuck.  Handy.

And third, the reviews for the most part agreed that the Omega J8005 is made of high-quality materials. Good seals means no leaks and the auger and assembly pieces are high grade plastic with great longevity. In particular, a reviewer mentioned that in the 5 years he’s owned the juicer, the screen was the only thing to show real wear. After a letter to Omega, he received his replacement part free of charge. It’s nice to see a company really standing behind their products-even after half a decade. To that point, the Omega J8005’s 10-year warranty is one of the longest in the business.  For those wondering, one of the differences between the J8005 vs. the J8006 is the warranty length.  The J8006 comes with a 15-year warranty.

There are just so many good things said about the J8005 that it’s hard to find a negative. The only consistent potental drawback we could find was in the size of the feeder chute being small and requiring cut-up prep time for larger fruits. Folding up large leaf vegetables like chard is a must, but for those searching for the best juicer for leafy greens this is not a problem.  For these minor negatives there were countless positives, however.

One review mentioned a nice surprise with the J8005 and that was getting a good amount of juice from a single orange. This would negate needing a separate citrus juicer and makes the Omega J8005 deserve its title of Nutrition Center. About that moniker, by the way: the J8005 also will do nut butters quite efficiently although most users rarely use that feature. The Omega juicer boasts the additional ability to grind coffee beans and extrude pasta, but we couldn’t find any reviews from those actually using the J8005 for those purposes.

Best Juicer Site Recommendation

In short, we can easily give the Omega J8005 our recommendation as one of the best juice extractors we’ve seen.  Given the price point, however, it’s not entry-level if you’ve never juiced before.  It will handle just about anything you can throw at it and you certainly can’t beat an honest, 10-year warranty.  It’s one of the best masticating juicers we’ve seen but you’ve got to be a serious juicer to be making the investment.  For some people, making this kind of initial $ commitment is a perfect kick-start to a healthy lifestyle.

The omega 8005 is a very good juicer.

They should improve their email reply though, as I sent them numerous emails on their website, and still haven’t received a reply.
Their customer service also is very good once you manage to reach them. They are reached easily on the phone.
They sent a new auger immediately to replace the scratched auger on the juicer.

The omega 8005 is excellent at juicing various vegetables, green leaves, fruits (apples, oranges and other citrus fruits), cucumbers, etc.

It is not good at grinding seeds, making almond butter, or for making pasta.
